Meet Sara Tindall Ghazal

Meet Sara Tindall Ghazal—mother, wife, attorney, and advocate. As an eighth generation Georgian, Sara and her husband Patrick chose East Cobb as their home and the ideal location to raise their family.

The Ghazals have two daughters who attend East Cobb’s award-winning public schools. As a state representative, Sara would work to ensure that all children in Georgia are offered the high quality education that the district provides--Georgia’s future depends on it.

Virtually all of Sara’s career reveals a steadfast commitment to public service.

Working for the Democratic Party of Georgia, Sara built the most comprehensive voter protection operation in the country, spearheading groundbreaking work to defend and advance voting rights across Georgia in 2018 and 2019. In February 2018, Sara became the first year-round, full-time Voter Protection Director in the nation who was dedicated to protecting the integrity of a state elections system. Over her tenure, Sara and her team’s program emerged as a national model to protect the vote across the country.

Before taking the role as Voter Protection Director, Sara worked for more than a decade for former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. Her years at The Carter Center were spent supporting peace efforts in countries such as Syria and Rwanda, promoting free and fair elections globally, and strengthening democracy in Liberia and beyond.

It was during her two-year assignment in Liberia where Sara met her husband Patrick, and they married in 2001. “Attending Patrick’s naturalization ceremony in 2004 was a life-changing event for me. It made me appreciate both how truly exceptional the American experience is—and how hard we need to work to ensure that all Americans enjoy equitable access to opportunity.”

Sara holds her law degree from Emory Law School, and her bachelor of arts degree from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
